ULTRAMARINE: MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL RETURNS WITH DUSTED, MO KENNEY, LAURIE BROWN, THE ORCHIDS, QUIET PARADE, POSTFUN, GEARL & MORE
2-DAY FESTIVAL TAKES PLACE IN YARMOUTH, NS JUNE 19-20

Ultramarine: Music & Arts Festival unveils Dusted, Mo Kenney, Laurie Brown, The Orchids, Quiet Parade, Postfun, Gearl, Fossil Cliffs, Paper Doll Fire and fencing among the slate of artists performing in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on June 19 & 20, 2026. Festival passes and tickets for individual shows are on sale now at https://ultramarinefest.com/tickets.
Taking place in the heart of downtown Yarmouth, the second edition of Ultramarine hosts 5 shows throughout the weekend.
The festival kicks off on Friday, June 19 at Holy Trinity Church with a special trio performance from acclaimed songwriter and JUNO nominee Mo Kenney. Halifax fog-rock quartet Quiet Parade opens the show, offering up a collection of songs from their 20-year catalogue inspired by Yarmouth.
Later that evening at the Yarmouth Legion, the bill features Halifax indie rockers Postfun, Eskasoni-based award-winning Mi’kmaq rapper Gearl, and the debut performance from Yarmouth’s own Paper Doll Fire, a brand new band featuring members of Rain Over St. Ambrose, KLAR, and High Tide.
On Saturday, June 20, the afternoon serves up a new addition to Ultramarine. The Rappie Pie Review is a matinee taking place at Heritage Brewing Co. that, in addition to providing the traditional Acadian dish to festival goers for lunch, also welcomes a group of local bluegrass musicians curated by David Saulnier for a mid-day performance.
Back at Holy Trinity Church, Ultramarine’s closing night begins with Summer Solstice Songs, a unique presentation hosted by Laurie Brown – celebrated MuchMusic broadcaster, former host of CBC Radio 2’s The Signal, founder of the podcast Pondercast, and now a Yarmouth County resident. Spoken word pieces written specifically for the event by Laurie will be interspersed with a series of special guests including All Mother’s Jessi Churchill, Postfun’s Jack Murtha, longstanding Yarmouth songwriter Connie Saulnier and Burnt Black bassist/Christopher Robin Device co-founder Marcus Webster, performing songs inspired by summer ahead of the solstice.
Saturday evening’s Holy Trinity bill is capped off by a much anticipated homecoming for Dusted, the solo project of internationally renowned artist Brian Borcherdt (Holy Fuck, Burnt Black, Cut/Cult). A cornerstone of Yarmouth’s contemporary music scene, Borcherdt offers an intimate duo performance spanning the breadth of the Dusted discography.
Ultramarine’s final show amps up the volume at the Yarmouth Legion with a bill featuring Truro power duo and recent winners of the Music Nova Scotia Award for Loud Recording of the Year, The Orchids, a return to the hometown stage for Mike D’Eon’s psych-rock band Fossil Cliffs, and Halifax math-rock outfit fencing.
Official Ultramarine After Parties, open to pass & ticket holders on both Friday & Saturday nights, will be hosted at the Portside Pub.
The Ultramarine: Music & Arts Festival also continues to celebrate the deep legacy of visual artists in Yarmouth. The overall graphic design for the 2026 edition (developed by Ladyhead Design) is based around a unique piece commissioned from Brian Porter, an award-winning artist who has shown his work around the world. Porter is also one of the participating artists at the Yarmouth Waterfront Gallery on Main Street, which will host a visual art exhibition during the week leading up to the event and throughout the festival weekend. Curated by Ann Jones, the exhibition will feature a variety of pieces by local artists drawing broadly on Harry Thurston’s poem “Ultramarine,” which inspired the festival’s name.

Se déroulant au cœur du centre-ville de Yarmouth, la deuxième édition d’Ultramarine accueille 5 spectacles au cours de la fin de semaine.
Le festival débute le vendredi 19 juin au Holy Trinity Church avec un spectacle spécial en trio de Mo Kenney, auteurice-compositeurice-interprète et nominé.e aux prix JUNO. Le quatuor fog-rock d’Halifax, Quiet Parade, offre la première partie avec une sélection de chansons inspirées par Yarmouth tirées de leurs 20 ans de carrière.
Plus tard dans la soirée, au Yarmouth Legion, on retrouvera sur scène les rockeurs alternatifs d’Halifax Postfun, le rappeur mi’kmaq primé Gearl, originaire d’Eskasoni, et le tout nouveau groupe de Yarmouth, Paper Doll Fire, composé de membres de Rain Over St. Ambrose, KLAR et High Tide.
Le samedi 20 juin, l’après-midi d’Ultramarine sert un plat nouveau : le Rappie Pie Review. Organisée à Heritage Brewing Co., la matinée accueillera un groupe de musiciens bluegrass locaux, sous la direction de David Saulnier, pour une performance à la brasserie en plus de servir le plat traditionnel acadien aux festivaliers pour le lunch.
De retour au Holy Trinity Church, la soirée de clôture d’Ultramarine débute avec « Summer Solstice Songs », un spectacle unique animé par Laurie Brown, célèbre animatrice de MuchMusic, ancienne animatrice de l’émission The Signal sur CBC Radio 2, fondatrice du balado Pondercast et désormais résidente du comté de Yarmouth. Des textes déclamés, écrits spécialement pour l’occasion par Laurie, seront intercalés avec des prestations d’invités spéciaux, dont Jessi Churchill d’All Mother, Jack Murtha de Postfun, Connie Saulnier, auteure-compositrice de Yarmouth de longue date, et Marcus Webster, bassiste de Burnt Black et cofondateur de Christopher Robin Device, qui interpréteront des chansons inspirées par l’été à l’approche du solstice.
Le programme de samedi soir à Holy Trinity se conclut avec le retour très attendu de Dusted, le projet solo de l’artiste de renommée internationale Brian Borcherdt (Holy Fuck, Burnt Black, Cut/Cult). Figure incontournable de la scène musicale contemporaine de Yarmouth, Borcherdt propose un spectacle en duo puisant dans toute la discographie de Dusted.
Le dernier spectacle d’Ultramarine augmente le volume au Yarmouth Legion avec une soirée comprenant le duo puissant de Truro et récents lauréats du prix Music Nova Scotia pour Loud Recording of the Year, The Orchids, un retour sur la scène locale du groupe de rock psychédélique de Mike D’Eon, Fossil Cliffs, et le groupe de math-rock d’Halifax, fencing.
Les after-parties officielles d’Ultramarine, ouvertes aux détenteurs de passes et de billets vendredi et samedi soir, auront lieu au Portside Pub.
Le long, Ultramarine: Music & Arts Festival continue de célébrer le riche héritage des artistes visuels à Yarmouth. La conception graphique de l’édition 2026 (réalisée par Ladyhead Design) s’articule autour d’une œuvre originale commandée à Brian Porter, artiste primé dont les œuvres ont été exposées à travers le monde. Porter est également l’un des artistes participants à la Yarmouth Waterfront Gallery, située sur Main Street, qui accueillera une exposition d’art visuel durant la semaine précédant l’événement et pendant toute la durée du festival. Sous le commissariat d’Ann Jones, l’exposition présentera diverses œuvres d’artistes locaux s’inspirant largement du poème « Ultramarine » de Harry Thurston, celui qui a inspiré le nom du festival.
